Naval Criminal Investigative Service Association Announces MIDEO as New Member Benefit
During an emergency, clear medical wishes protect you and your mission. That’s why the Naval Criminal Investigative Service Association (NCISA) has introduced MIDEO’s video advance directive service as a new member benefit. The goal of this partnership is to reduce bedside ambiguity and make sure clinicians can see and hear a NCISA member’s wishes on their video living will in seconds.
Why MIDEO?
Traditional, paper-based advance directives often fail when they’re needed most. They can be hard to find, dense with legal jargon, and easy to misinterpret in time-pressured situations. Those gaps have led to medical errors, including care people didn’t want or the withholding of treatment they did.
MIDEO was developed by Emergency Medicine physician Dr. Ferdinando Mirarchi to solve that problem by pairing a short video advance directive statement (in your own words) with compliant documentation so intent is absolutely unmistakable during a medical emergency..
Healthcare teams & first responders have instant access to your MIDEO to determine the right steps in your medical care.
With a MIDEO ID Card, healthcare teams can retrieve a member’s video advance directive immediately. They don’t need to log in to any portals or try to read from a wrinkled paper copy. Most importantly, the video living will is accessible in the moments when decisions matter most. You MIDEO is also able to travel with you on your iphone. This is yet just another way that a smartphone can help save your life.
Studies comparing paper to video advance directives show video is more accurate and consistent in guiding treatment choices. MIDEO provides the ultimate layer of safety for those who’ve spent a career safeguarding others. MIDEO makes sure there is no guessing when it comes to your care and safety.
What the new MIDEO NCISA member benefits includes
NCISA is making MIDEO available to members as a benefit. Most members will have little or no out-of-pocket expense. We suggest that NCISA members take advantage of this to better protect their families and make sure that their wishes are known in the event of a medical emergency.
Why the MIDEO + NCISA member benefits partnership matters
NCISA’s decision to partner with MIDEO signals that the NCISA is looking out for their members. By providing their membership a video-first solution that’s physician-guided and instantly retrievable, the Association is helping protect its community from the patient-safety risks that have long surrounded video living wills, while also giving clinicians the tools and clarity they need to act in accordance to your wishes. .
